An experienced Caravan-er has ventured out onto the open road after upgrading his GA mobility scooter multiple times, so that he can to keep on the road with his caravan.
From Spalding Moor in Yorkshire, Steve Bunker has been a caravanning devotee since he was a youngster, with a career in engineering and a enthusiasm for mechanics. But when he had an accident that compressed his lower vertebrae, the 70-year-old thought that his days of adventuring around the UK were long gone.
Luckily for Steve, a ‘Harley Davidson’ style mobility scooter from TGA helped fill the empty space where his caravanning used to be and he has now clocked up 2,000+ miles of travelling.
As well as this, this caravan buff has been able to recommence his tours and adventures around the UK, in a specially adapted Vauxhall Omega MV6 estate, towing a 22ft six-berth tourer.
The combination of these two vehicles has kept Mr Bunker’s dream of caravanning alive, and has allowed him to see many of the great sites of the British countryside, even embarking up a 12-week trip around the captivating and beautiful countryside of Scotland.
His scooter may only have a maximum speed of 8mph, but it can tackle inclines of up to 21%, thanks in part to its durable and sturdy 14″ rear-end tyres. And with the independence of his new scooter at his disposal, Great Britain is his oyster!
